The first graders at Brewster and the first & second graders at Lyman knew about the Caldecott Award and also knew we would be having some fun reading and exploring amazing books!
We spent time browsing past Caldecott winners and honor books - they amaze me every time and I love to see kids squeal with delight when they find a new one that they just love. We also took the time to look at the criteria that the Caldecott committee uses and then the kid-friendly language that we would be using.
As so many other bloggers have written - just how do you choose? I had ideas collected over the past year, but I also looked to some of my PLN: Mr. Schu, Jennifer Reed, and Carrie Gelson.
