I have had the privilege of connecting my students with some terrific librarians and teachers and watching their faces as they talk to kids in Arizona, ask to see Mr. Schu's face as we skype with his school in Illinois, get cheered on by fifth graders from Wisconsin and work together with another first grade class in Maryland (thanks Mr. Winner!). A highlight was the Virtual comic workshop today by Jarrett Krosoczka of Studio JJK - they got to see the creator of the Lunch Lady series in action and help write the comic! They can't wait to see the finished product! One 3rd grade class had to wait because of technical difficulties and decided to skip half of lunch and all of their recess to be there! What a difference this has made in their lives today!
I have made a commitment this year to make reading fun and truly celebrate it! I think we are well on our way!
