Kindergarteners LOVE reading 123 versus ABC by Mike Boldt! As they learn about the alphabet and numbers in their classrooms, we had a blast reading about numbers and letters through literature. Mike Boldt's colorful pictures brought lots of laughter! What a wonderful way to engage these beginning readers! After we read the book and watched the booktrailer, the kindergarteners had to make a decision: what was their favorite number or letter? It was a tough one. The students then drew their choices on paper and decorated them. One of my goals this year is to expand the audience for the kindergarteners and so I asked them if they would like to know what numbers or letters that other kids around the country liked best. They were very excited and we used a new tech tool called Flipgrid to collect ideas. This week we used the Flipgrid app for iPad and only have a few more students to record. So - What is your favorite number or letter? If you are a teacher or librarian working with kindergarteners and would like to have your students add to our grid, click here. We will analyze the results and let you know if there are any favorites! |
Colors versus Shapes!
Oh the excitement when we discovered that the next book (yes, we suspected there was one coming) was available this fall! We found the book trailer and then had to wait for the public library to get the book to us. So much fun! We are wondering now what the next book could be? The kindergarteners were coming up with all kinds of ideas. |
